Ron-Ron Returns!

Posted on April 25, 2012

When Ron Artest changed his name to Metta World Peace I asked Los Angeles Lakers fans how long this new persona would last before “Ron-Ron” reared his ugly head.

Well it didn’t take long folks. It looks like Ron-Ron is baaaaccckkk! I hope it’s not for good but he showed up last Sunday when the Lakers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder. World Peace went up for the shot, came down and elbowed James Harden in the back of the head. It was completely intentional and although he apologized, I’m not buying it. Harden left the game with a concussion; his return is uncertain and the NBA has placed “World Peace” on a seven game suspension without pay.

Here’s the thing! Ron Artest has a history of playing dirty. Don’t get me wrong I love it when guys play hard, but dirty is dirty and any time you throw your elbow into a man’s head…you’re just grimy. Artest has had at least ten suspensions in the last ten seasons, in fact last year he smacked Dallas Mavericks guard Jose Barea in the face as the Lakers were losing; he was suspended for three games. I’m sorry dude has been in the NBA to long to keep getting by on weak apologies, he obviously thinks these suspensions are a joke or he would get it together.

Harden’s future is on the line and he’s sorry? What the hell? NO! NO! NO!

I sat on the couch watching Sunday’s game and I was pist to say the least. I honestly think Artest should have received a ten game suspension especially since we are so close to the playoffs. He needs something to think about before he swings his elbow, hand or fist into any other man on the court.

Now let’s address the fans! Some of you are a hot mess! People are online laughing at the situation and some are even defending Ron Artest. EXCUSE ME! Have you all lost your minds? When has a blow to the head ever been comical and how in the hell do you defend his actions? Right is right and if somebody did that to any player in purple and gold, the entire Laker Nation would be in an uproar especially with playoffs a week away.

Coach Green said it best, “They are who we thought they were.”

Well folks…He is who we thought he was and that’s unfortunate.

No more Metta World Peace! Ron Artest will always be RON-RON!
