Manning Mayhem!

Posted on March 20, 2012

The mayhem surrounding QB Peyton Manning is finally over. Manning started negotiations with the Denver Broncos Monday morning and laid all the rumors surrounding where the free agent would land to rest.

The Indianapolis Colts released Manning earlier this month and the quest for a new team began. He met with the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins and worked out for the Broncos, Titans and 49ers to showcase his abilities after missing last season recovering from three neck surgeries.

According to the Denver Post, the Broncos reached a deal with Manning Tuesday morning for five-years, worth $96 million.

At 36 years old that is quite the contract! #Winning!

And now the drama in begins…

Tebow time in Denver is over; there is NO WAY the Broncos keep Tim Tebow after adding Peyton Manning to the roster. Rumors are now swirling about him heading to the Niners…he doesn’t fit into that system so I dont see that happening…but if it makes Alex Smith pout more I’m all for stirring the pot.

Let’s face it! Alex Smith is still Alex Smith but after he led the 49ers to a 13-3 season the team offered him a three-year, $24 million deal. Smith met with the Miami Dolphins Monday; he’s a little sore with coach Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers but the Dolphins have moved on and signed QB David Garrard so he may as well suck it up and accept the deal on the table in San Francisco.

The 49er faithful were pretty optimistic and excited at the thought of landing Peyton Manning especially after WR Mario Manningham signed last Saturday.

Denver fans on the other hand, seem to be on the fence; some were ‘Tebowing’ for Peyton while others were hoping Timmy could buy more time to showcase his talents.

I think David Letterman said it best, “What would Jesus do? He’d sign Peyton Manning!”
