R.I.P JoePa!

Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno died Sunday morning of lung cancer at age 85.

“JoePa” holds the record for the most wins in college football with 409 wins in 46 seasons and two national titles. His storied career was marred in November when he was suddenly fired from Penn State amid a child sex abuse scandal that involved former assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky was charged with molesting 10 boys during a 15-year span, including some in the Penn State athletic complex.  Paterno’s critics say he should have done more after receiving news of the allegations.

I personally find it interesting that JoePa died shortly after his firing. It makes me wonder if coaching was his life line. Is it possible to die from a broken heart?

The debate has begun on what Mr. Paterno’s legacy will be…I say if we are talking X’s and O’s then talk X’s and O’s.   I still feel like he was crucified because of a sick and perverted individual.

It will continue to be a heated debate because children are involved and were hurt. Regardless, the cares of this world are no longer his concern.

Rest Peacefully JoePa!
